The Declining DC Male

I can only speak for DC, cause that’s where I’m at. But I feel like I’m at Ground Zero for what Roosh and Roissy talk about all the time: men becoming pansies.

There used to be rules to some of this. As recently as my college years. I mean, you would not see any, ANY guys acting this way, unless they were flaming. Your closets friends would beat you silly if they saw you do it. Others who heard of you would shun you. Men knew that if they acted this way, their sins would be put on display for all to see. Their futures ruined forever.

Now it feels like a giant coming-out party.

Adams Morgan. People sing its praises all the time. I used to be one of them. But I swear it wasn’t like this 3 years ago. Has it really been this long?

The music is pounding away. People look like their into it. But what’s playing? Lady Gaga’s Alejandro. I hadn’t actually heard the song before then, but knew of it just by the name. I can see why people like it.

But then as I looked around, I saw guys singing the chorus. Then the next verse came. Guys to my left sung the verse, word for word. I guess some really like them some Gaga. I looked to my right, more guys were singing word for word. Wait, what?

Kei$ha was next. And with the up tempo, guys to my left, right, straight ahead, everywhere, were jumping up and down, fist pumping, and belting out every lyric. Everywhere I looked I saw the same thing. It wasn’t just the occasional herb trying to get the girls’ attentions in his little group. It was also regular Joes. And don’t get me started about Beyonce’s Single Ladies…

The interesting thing was, these guys were more excited then the girls, who the songs were actually meant for. Maybe they had sung those songs one to many times. Maybe they thought it odd that the guys were more into it. I have no idea. All I knew was that I had to get out of there.

My friend and I left for better pastures. I knew of a place near by that has been good to me. I figured it was a better bet. It was a lesser-known spot, mostly girls, and they did the fist pumping, dancing, and singing. No guys were acting like girls at a Miley Cyrus concert. But this was just a small, lesser-known joint. Out of the mainstream. Underground.

I understand that guys will do all kinds of stuff just to get women. I’ve seen some of the most ridiculous things in clubs, just to attract that female attention. But it wasn’t apparent that these pansies were trying to peacock. They were doing it to outshine the ladies. They were doing it for themselves. For the glory.

It’s too late to feel sorry or to act concerned. All hope for society is lost. But for us emerging Lotharios, there’s still hope.
